Ingredients
- 1 pound ground hamburger meat, split into 8 (2-ounce) balls
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic or onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 cup Palmetto Original Pimento Cheese
- 8 sliced pickles or pickled jalapeños
- 4 slices red onion, or more to taste
- Cole slaw, recipe below, or use your favorite store bought brand
- 4 brioche or potato hamburger buns, toasted
- COLESLAW
- Makes about 1 cup cole slaw
- 1 cup shredded green cabbage
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seed
- 1/8 teaspoon celery salt
- In a small bowl mix all ingredients until combined.
Instructions
- In a small bowl mix together seasoned salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium high heat. Add ball of hamburger meat to the pan and, using the bottom side of a large spatula, smash into a thin layer, about 4 inches across. Sprinkle some of the spice mixture onto the meat and cook until browned, about 2 minutes. Flip patty and cook another 2 minutes or until cooked through. Set aside, keep warm, and repeat process with remaining 2-ounce hamburger balls.
- Place about 1/4 cup cole slaw onto the bottom of each bun. Place 2 smash burger patties on top of each cole slaw bun. Next add a layer of pimento cheese, pickles, and red onion. Top with top bun and serve immediately.
