Ingredients
- 11 oz. Palmetto Cheese
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup sweet chili sauce, optional, for dipping
- Enough vegetable or peanut oil to deep fry -or- enough oil for brushing (air fry)
- 1/4 cup sliced green onions, optional, to garnish
Instructions
- Place wonton wrappers onto a flat surface. Place about 1 tablespoons pimento cheese into the center of each wonton square.
- Using a pastry brush or your finger, brush each edge of the filled wonton wrapper with the beaten egg.
- Pinch each corner of the wonton together and seal the edges by pressing them together to make a wonton purse.
- Place the wonton purses on a parchment lined sheet pan and freeze for 1 hour.
- Deep Fry: Fill a pot with enough oil to cover multiple wonton purses. Heat the oil until 350 degrees reads on a candy or deep fry thermometer, Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 2-3 minutes. Serve with sweet chili sauce to dip.
- Air Fry: Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees. Brush or spray each wonton with oil. Place into air fryer and cook until browned and crisp, 8 to 10 minutes. Serve with sweet chili sauce to dip.
